7. Rep. Carl Wimmer was part of the task force which created and passed SB48 which brought Jordan School District an additional twelve-million dollars annually. He has co-authored almost every piece of education legislation in the last three years to the benefit of Jordan School District. He co-sponsored and passed HB295 which passed in the 2010 session. This bill created more flexibility to a district's budget, and is directly responsible for the fact that JSD did not have to layoff teachers. Most recently Rep. Wimmer was assigned by Governor Gary Herbert to be a part of the Governors commission on Education Excellence.

Carl has been at the leading edge when it comes to education excellence and reform. Which ideas for improving education would you support?

8. Recently the state legislature has begun to rigorously reform health care in Utah. Some of these solutions Representative Carl Wimmer has opposed, others he has supported. He has opposed the creation of a statewide risk adjuster whose job it is to take from successful insurance companies, and give to less-successful companies.

Solutions that Representative Wimmer support are listed below. Please select those ideas that you would support.

9. Representative Carl Wimmer is the founder of The National Patrick Henry Caucus (PHC). The PHC is the premier state sovereignty caucus in the nation. This year due to the leadership of Rep. Wimmer and the PHC, the legislature passed all twelve state sovereignty bills and resolutions.

Among the legislation, was a bill that blocked the national take over of health care, removed federal restrictions on firearms made in Utah, and began the eminent domain process over federally controlled land.

Critics say that the cost to the state is too high to fight federal government encroachment. (Although, the health care take over will cost the state of Utah 300 million dollars annually.)

Do you believe that the cost to the state (1-2 million dollars to defend a supreme court case) is worth the benefit?
