As we prepare to move church school into the new building this fall, we would profit from input from parents and teachers as to the structure and curriculum for children in preschool through 5th grade.

. This past year, due to space restrictions at High Street School, classes were combined: K/1st, 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th, with two adult teachers for each class. If you have a child currently attending Sunday school, what was your child’s response to the combined class structure? Would you prefer we return to separate classrooms for each grade in the new Church building?

. In prior years, children went to church with their parents before leaving for church school after the children’s story. What do you think is valuable about having children attend church school directly versus children leaving for church school after the children’s story in the worship service?

. This year, the children attend church school immediately and a small chapel service is held for the children before starting their church school program. For the 2010-2011 school year, what do you think about church school going 10 minutes past the service (parents could go to coffee hour) to allow time for the children to continue to have their own chapel experience in addition to regular church school programming?
