Service-Learning United is committed to expanding support for service-learning to engage more federal agencies, such as the U.S. Departments of Education, Justice, Health and Human Services and the Interior. We are finalizing a comprehensive policy agenda that will outline specific policy recommendations as well as considerations for key federal agencies.
During April 2010, the Service-Learning United Leadership team will convene weekly conference calls to finalize our policy goals and agenda to expand federal support for service-learning.
We are currently seeking input and feedback for the following issue areas:
· Service-Learning and the Reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (commonly referred to as No Child Left Behind)
· Service-Learning as a Strategy to Prepare a 21st Century Workforce
· Service-Learning as a Strategy for Environmental Literacy and Stewardship
· Service-Learning as a Strategy for Health and Wellness
· Service-Learning as a Strategy for Safe Places
