Survey for children, young people & families about Specialist Tier 2/Tier 3 CAMHS

1. Questionnaire for children, young people and families

Hampshire CAMHS Commissioning Partnership is carrying out a consultation with children, young people and families about its Specialist Tier 2/Tier 3 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) (closing date is 5 February 2010). Although we have some excellent services, we are constantly looking to improve them, with a particular focus on;

“Improving accessibility and building a consistent approach for children, young people and their families to Specialist CAMHS, addressing inequities across Hampshire”

To achieve this outcome, your involvement in this process is very important to us and through both views and opinions from service users, non-service users and their families, they will influence the planning of the new service specification drive which will make improvements in emotional, psychological and mental health services for children and young people.

Who and what is Hampshire CAMHS Commissioning Partnership?

Hampshire CAMHS Commissioning Partnership aims to ensure there are a collection of services to promote and restore the emotional, behavioral, psychological and mental health needs of children and young people. What does is Mental Health actually mean?

There are a lot of different names used by professionals, young people and adults to describe mental health difficulties. Some people do not like the names and find them to be negative, others find them to be helpful and support them in accessing services they may need.

The terms that are regularly used by researchers and doctors are emotional and behavioural problems, emotional wellbeing, mental health problems, mental health and psychological wellbeing, mental illness or mental disorders.
To young people this may present in behaviour such as anger, depression, self-harming, aggression, eating disorders and other issues that may impact on their wellbeing.

The questionnaire should take you around 5-10 minutes to complete. Any comments/feedback you give will help to provide us with information on where our service may need to make appropriate changes and developments. Please answer as honestly and as detailed as you can as it will also serve to give us a better understanding of how you experience CAMHS.

Thank you.
