Say "NO" to Tri-County Parkway
The planned Tri-County Parkway, also commonly referred to as the "Bi-County Parkway"; the "Outer Beltway"; the "North South Corridor"; and the "Battlefield Bypass, is a boondoggle for special interests that will irreparably harm homeowners in Prince William County.
The confusion in the name of these roads is deliberate, and it allows VDOT and other government officials to use the confusion they create to mislead homeowners who will be directly impacted and to hide the true construction schedule for this road.
The economic and social impacts of the Tri-County Parkway are potentially devastating to Prince William County residents, particularly those who live in western Prince William where the road will see property rights trampled, the integrity of the historic civil war battlefields destroyed, and will clog commuter routes with negative impacts on access to Rt. 66 -- including closing the Rt. 29 and Rt. 234 intersection that is a key east-west commuter corridor.
This new road will end the Rural Crescent as we know it that was designed to protect the rural character of our community.
These disastrous impacts on Prince William County residents will be a big payday for commercial interests of Loudoun County, currently listed as the richest county in America. We lose, they win.
The Tri-County Parkway is a catastrophe for Prince William County, and several on the Board of County Supervisors and other state officials are supporting the road that will let their special interest friends cash in on new development. When special interests can cash in, that helps politicians fund their campaigns (or future campaigns), but that does nothing for the quality of life here in Prince William County.
