A SPI model for the UK Heatlhcare Industry - Healthcare SPICE Model

1. Healthcare SPICE

 33%

This picture explains the core structure of the Healthcare SPICE model which focuses initially on providing the industry with best management practices for: Customer-Supplier, Requirement, Safety & Security, Risk & Change and Implementation. These areas have been reported as the most challenging areas to manage within the UK healthcare software industry according to the results of our previous industrial survey.

The Healthcare SPICE model is based largely on the ISO/IEC 15504-5:2006 (SPICE) model but with newly tailored and improved process practices that focus on explicitly addressing current development concerns, standard compliances and quality dimension requirements for the UK healthcare domain, as illustrated in the diagram below. The “Industry Best Practices Inputs” show an array of standards, guidelines and best practices which were mapped with the existing SPICE model process areas. The “Outputs” provide coverage of new process dimensions. For example: the product implementation and transition support process; the stakeholder engagement and communication support process; and tailored best practices for the healthcare sector.
