The learning objectives for this session were:
1. Participants will learn about the challenges of preserving FHA mortgage-insured garden apartment complexes throughout the United States. Understand their place in history, how to advocate for their reuse and how they can be upgraded to meet modern demands and sill meet national preservation guidelines.
2. Participants will discover the history of this type of building complex and how they are excellent examples of self-sustaining, affordable communities for diverse populations.
3. Participants will learn how both public and private organizations are currently working to preserve these important resources.
4. Participants will learn how property owners; residents, affordable housing advocates; nonprofits; and local, state and federal preservation officials, collaborate to save these historic, sustainable neighborhoods.
