Growing Local, Buying Local: Opportunities in Warren County, NC
WARRENTON PIE SHOP SURVEY
Information for Wholesale Participants
You are being invited to participate in a survey about a proposed business, the “Warrenton Pie Shop,” to be located on Main Street in Warrenton, NC--which is located an hour NE of Durham. This survey is being conducted as part of the Growing Local, Buying Local: Opportunities in Warren County, NC project, a research study aimed at understanding the views of local stakeholders on the production, distribution, and consumption of local agricultural products in the Warren County area. We are seeking input from a wide variety of people, and your contribution would be very valuable to us.
In this survey, you will be asked questions about:
• Characteristics of your business and your customers
• Pies and other baked goods that your business carries
In deciding whether to participate, please consider the following:
• Any adult (18+ years) can complete the survey
• The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete
• There are no wrong answers to the survey questions; we are interested in your opinions
• Your participation is voluntary
• You may skip any questions you don’t want to answer, and you may stop answering the survey at any time
Use of Information
Your survey responses will be used by the project team to guide the development of a business plan for a bakery using locally grown ingredients, and also to inform other efforts to promote locally-grown food and entrepreneurship. If you indicate interest in potential business opportunities related to the “Warrenton Pie Shop” or other local food ventures, you may be contacted by project staff at a later date to discuss those opportunities further.
The information resulting from this survey may also be used by the project team members in public reports, presentations, and publications, as well as student papers. Upon completion of this project, the information generated may also be made available for other non-profit/educational uses. Documents and presentations resulting from this study may include the name of your business, but not your own name, both in acknowledging your contribution and in association with your survey responses, unless you request that the business name be omitted.
