PROGRAM INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in supporting the USGBC-Illinois Green Affordable Housing Training Series! This comprehensive pilot was designed to support staff of Chicago affordable housing development organizations. The three-phase training series —offered at no cost for participating organizations– prepares and supports organizational staff to study for and pass the LEED Green Associate exam and the LEED for Homes exam, resulting in increased capacity among Chicago developers to successfully implement affordable green and LEED for Homes projects.

Last spring, in Phase 1 of this training series, participants completed two courses "LEED 201: Introduction to LEED" and "Homes 252: Understanding the LEED Homes Rating System." Many have taken and passed the LEED Green Associate exam. In the upcoming Phase 2, participants will take "Residential Building Science 101" and "LEED for Homes 301: Implementing the LEED for Homes Rating System." In preparation for the LEED for Homes exam, Phase 2 participants will also complete 20 hours of LEED for Homes project experience.

USGBC-Illinois is now recruiting individuals with active LEED for Homes construction projects to serve as project advisors for the Green Affordable Housing Training Series. Upon receipt of this application, USGBC-Illinois will pair your company/organization with 2-5 cohort trainees, based on your project scale, needs, and professional skill requirements. Participating project advisors are eligible to receive hourly compensation through USGBC-Illinois grant funding, however project advisors may elect whether or not to accept compensation. Please submit your project application by 5/1/13. You will receive notification of program acceptance in mid May.
