Urgent action is under way with all levels of government to save the Pembroke-Mattawa rail line. This is a key section of the only remaining complete rail route between North Bay and Ottawa through the Ottawa Valley. Rail transport is a crucial requirement for economic growth in the Upper Ottawa Valley. It is highly efficient and environmentally responsible. CP Rail has already removed much of the track further south between Pembroke and Smiths Falls. As is the case throughout most of North America, ‘when the steel disappears, it never reappears’. It’s time to take action...Save the Railway!
