Thank you for taking the time to nominate a business or individual for their outstanding contribution. This event would not be the special event that it is, without great people like you, taking the time to help us recognize the achievements and service of others.

For sixty-three(63) years the Corvallis-Benton Chamber Coalition has recognized citizens and businesses for their outstanding achievement in business and in the community. Celebrate Corvallis Awards are divided into three categories, Business Awards, Community Awards and Civic Awards. Each award is based on five (5) objective criteria.

Selections are made by five committees, in December and January of each year and awards are announced at the annual award ceremony held in January.

Organizations or individuals may make up to two (2) nominations total.

* 1. It is very important that you review the following information carefully. We want to make sure every person or business is nominated for the appropriate category. The questions and selection criteria vary for each award.

Each award has five key criteria used to select the winner in each category. Nominating forms (sent to the nominees) address each of these criteria. The selection committees evaluate each candidate based on the identified criteria assigning a point value.

Business of the Year - Recognizes a business that has made significant contributions to the economic health of the community, including financial contributions, business growth, and the introduction of new or innovative product(s) or service(s); employee development; sound or innovative business practices; community service; and customer service.

Good Steward of the Planet Award - honors a for-profit business that has made a significant contribution to improving the environmental health of Benton County, through exemplary achievement in business practices using natural, financial, and human resources in a responsible manner that meets existing needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

First Citizen – Junior Category (Ages 18-41) - recognizes an individuals Leadership: in promoting causes and organizations that enhance and stimulate growth and development of such causes and organizations; Diversity: participation in numerous volunteer activities in the community that helps to stimulate and inspire others; Longevity: has made a significant commitment to the community over time; Community Impact: contributions and efforts have made a significant difference to our community; Overcoming adversity: either personally or professionally, has shown the fortitude and persistence to overcome obstacles to achieve success.

First Citizen – (Ages 42-65) - recognizes an individuals Leadership: in promoting causes and organizations that enhance and stimulate growth and development of such causes and organizations; Diversity: participation in numerous volunteer activities in the community that helps to stimulate and inspire others; Longevity: has made a significant commitment to the community over time; Community Impact: contributions and efforts have made a significant difference to our community; Overcoming adversity: either personally or professionally, has shown the fortitude and persistence to overcome obstacles to achieve success.

First Citizen – Senior Category (66 and Older) - recognizes an individuals Leadership: in promoting causes and organizations that enhance and stimulate growth and development of such causes and organizations; Diversity: participation in numerous volunteer activities in the community that helps to stimulate and inspire others; Longevity: has made a significant commitment to the community over time; Community Impact: contributions and efforts have made a significant difference to our community; Overcoming adversity: either personally or professionally, has shown the fortitude and persistence to overcome obstacles to achieve success.

Patron of the Arts - This award recognizes significant contributions to the arts disciplines based on the following criteria: leadership in the arts community; education or promotion of arts values, projects and organizations; innovative and creative ideas that improve participation in the arts; donation of time through volunteerism and/or the donation of financial resources to the arts community.

Community Organization/Non-profit of the Year - recognizes a community organization that has made a significant contribution to the overall health and livability of Benton County. The winning organization makes a significant impact that improves the economic, medical, educational or financial health of individuals in our community; impacts people through enabling and empowering individuals to improve their knowledge and skills toward greater quality of life; benefits the underserved, underrepresented or disaffected members of the community, including children, seniors and those in poverty; and has high quality treatment of employees and members of the public.

The Celebrate Corvallis selection process was adopted by the Chamber Coalition Board of Directors in 2007. The purpose of each selection committee (5) is to choose the top three candidates and the winner for each award in the categories identified.
