Every Kid Healthy

Thank you for your interest in Every Kid Healthy™ Week! sponsored in Congress and included on the Calendar of National Health Observances. Every Kid Healthy Week (held annually during the fourth week of April) focuses on the nation’s childhood obesity epidemic and its solutions: sound nutrition, regular physical activity and health-promoting school programs that help students be better prepared to learn and succeed academically, and provides volunteer opportunities to get involved in its solutions. From hosting family health fair nights, renovating school play grounds, painting healthy murals on schools, working in the school garden, or conducting healthy food taste tests, schools nationwide have hosted Every Kid Healthy Week events to celebrate their school’s work and bring together teachers, administrators, food service staff, parents, families, and community members to roll up their sleeves and get involved in school wellness programs.

In 2014, 485 Every Kid Healthy Week events in schools were registered in 37 states, with more than 215,000 parent, teacher and student participants. In 2015, more than 1,000 schools nationwide have already committed to host an Every Kid Healthy Week event, with additional schools signing on every day!

This year, school communities across the country will recognize Every Kid Healthy Week on April 19-25. During the observance and throughout the month of April, join us in celebrating those schools making sustainable changes that encourage students to eat better and be active every day.

If your school will host an Every Kid Healthy Week event in 2015, please provide additional information so that your efforts may be highlighted.
