The priority deadline for applications is 5:00PM ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2013. To ensure your best chances of acceptance, we highly recommend completing the application by this deadline. Those who apply by that date will be given priority. After this applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
Please note that there is no way to save the application and return to work on it later. For this reason we recommend preparing all of the following information in advance.
Please note, there are several short essay questions that each require up to a 500 word response. The questions are:
* Describe your recent leadership activities. What do you consider to be your highest leadership achievement so far?
* What academic, community, governmental, political, professional or other activity are you most proud of? What barriers have you encountered while pursuing this activity?
* What political office do you plan to run for? When are you planning on running?
* What does state or local government in Virginia do well?
* What would you like to change about government in Virginia?
* What specific skills, knowledge or resources do you hope to acquire as a result of participating in the Sorensen Institute Candidate Training Program?
As well as a short answer to:
* How did you learn about the Sorensen Institute?
Be aware that the essays are a significant part of the selection process and very important to making admissions decisions.
Applicants may also submit up to two letters of recommendation. These are not required, and we will not review more than two letters. Letters must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 for consideration and should be addressed to:
