2012 Spring Break and Summer Mission Trips

God does great things in our lives and through us to bless others as we step out in faith and go, sharing Christ’s love, through mission trips. As applications are turned in, we as a staff entrust each one to the Lord, praying and trusting Him to guide us as we form each team.

3 Simple Steps to Apply:
1. Read through the trip descriptions on the application.
2. Fill out the application (please fill in every field)
3. Turn in your $100 non-refundable deposit by November 2nd (bring cash or check to the Wesley office) Make checks payable to "Wesley Foundation" and make sure your name and trip applied for are on the memo line. If paying with cash please attach a note with your name and trip applied for.

Spring Break

Atlanta/Newnan

Holly Avera and Lisa Weaver are going local! March 10-17 they will be leading a team to work with Habitat for Humanity in Coweta County (construction, working with families receiving homes, service projects, etc.) as well as a ministry in Atlanta that works with women in the sex industry. Estimated cost of the trip is $300.

Bethel Church – Redding, CA (Prayer trip)

Mayra Robinson and Eric & Autumn Thomason will lead a trip to Bethel Church in Redding, California from March 9-17 (leaving after class on Friday.) They will attend services & ministry classes at the church, experience Bethel culture, and spend time in prayer for Wesley's other spring break and summer mission trips. The goal of this trip will be to cover the other trips in prayer and to receive all that Bethel has to offer to our team. Estimated cost of the trip is $1000.

Costa Rica

Katie Jordan and Sandy McAfee will lead a trip to Costa Rica from March 10-16. They will be working with Jonathan and Amy Griffith (former Wesley interns) and the Abraham Project in San Jose. The trip will involve assisting with the children’s home, construction projects, prayer, outreach, and ministry opportunities. The estimated cost of the trip is $1500.

Honduras

Dustin & Kristin Sosebee will lead a trip to Honduras from March 9-16. They will partner with the Connection (Prince Ave college ministry) under the Baptist Medical/Dental International Ministry in Honduras to share the love of Jesus through home-to-home evangelism, church services, community outreach, fresh water ministry, medical missions and hospital. Estimated cost of the trip is $1850.

Los Angeles

Peter Bauman, Kathryn Garvin and Abby Dickinson will lead a trip to the Dream Center (www.dreamcenter.org) in Los Angeles, California from March 10-17. There will be opportunities to work with the homeless and runaways as well as inner-city residents. Come help change a city that has been affected by drugs, crime, violence and sexual perversion. This will be a great opportunity to meet and minister to a variety of people and build community with others across the nation! Estimated cost of the trip is $1200.


New York City

Melissa Howell, Jennifer Lilly and Jamie McKnight are headed to the Big Apple March 10-17! This trip is designed to allow students to exercise and experience urban ministry and outreach. Students will be teaming up with a school and church on the forefront of reaching the people of New York by participating in teachings on urban ministry, subway/street ministry, children's ministry, and homeless outreach . In addition there will be opportunity to embark on independent outreaches such as prayer walks, treasure hunts, and other Spirit-led endeavors. If you are interested in learning more about urban ministry and experiencing it first hand then we'd love to have you! Estimated cost of the trip $800.


Jamaica

**For Freshmen & freshmen leaders** from March 11-17. They will lead morning devotions in the schools and work on projects from laying concrete to repainting a school. Estimated cost $1550

Peru

Ashley Joyner and Andy Slagle will be leading a trip to Trujillo, Peru from March 9-18. We will be partnering with local Methodist missionaries to minister to youth and children. Evangelism is a focus for the church and we will be helping by doing skits and vacation bible school. Estimated cost is $1800.
Summer

Brazil

Mallory Ingram and Tyler Durden will be leading a team to Brazil with Rick Bonfim Ministries. They will be doing outreaches in the poor neighborhood around Rio de Janeiro and will help minister at local churches. Be prepared to encounter the Holy Spirit. Dates are May 14-26. Estimated cost is $2900.

Cambodia
Whooo Cambodia! Nicole Meadows and Thomas Hartley are leading a trip to the beautiful Kingdom of Cambodia from May 16th-June 4th. We will be partnering with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), and get to minister to women in the sex industry and street children who earn their money sifting though garbage at the dump, and teach English to the kids at an orphanage. Plus, we'll attend services at the local churches and go on prayer walks throughout Phnom Penh, the capital. Come join the fellowship, the fun, the adventure, and the Jesus-ness of this trip! Estimated cost of this trip is $2700.

Israel

Come experience the Promised Land! Bob Beckwith and Brittney Marzullo will lead a team to work with Living Bread International Church from May 26-June 4, staying in East Jerusalem, near the Old City. We will worship in Jerusalem and with Palestinians in Jericho and Jerusalem and participating in outreaches to the Palestinian people in the West Bank. There will be day trips to several key sites in the Holy Land. Our hope is to experience both the Jewish and Palestinian cultures and develop a love for both peoples. Estimated cost is $3000.

Montenegro

Mike Nakayama and Rachel Robertson will be leading a two week relational evangelism trip to Montenegro in eastern Europe May 15-29. We will be working with the local church as well as ministering to them through personal/prophetic encouragement, prayer, outdoor activities, and building relationships with college students, children, and adults. Estimated cost is $2400.

Mozambique

Jordan Price, Kristen Leonard, and Payton McCarty will be leading a trip from May 27th – June 16th to Maputo, Mozambique. We will be working with the children of Project Purpose - a ministry that works with women and children on the streets in prostitution. We will also work with Sarah Olds (a former Wesley director) and Masana- a ministry to boys living on the streets. There will be many opportunities to use dance, music, art, and other forms of worship to share the gospel around the city. Estimated cost is $3000.

Scotland

Kelsey Alligood and Kenimer Highsmith will lead a small team to the northern islands of Scotland to partner with YWAM (Youth with a Mission) June 6-20. The team will work in schools leading short programs and devotionals for the youth with YWAM staff. We will also facilitate after school activities including games, sports, and worship. In addition to working with youth, we will learn about Scottish revivals and join YWAM staff for outreach and intercession as well as spending some time sightseeing around Scotland. Estimated cost is $2600.

Washington D.C.

Melody Botha and Heather Troutman are headed to the Nation's Capital for a week in May! We will be working in Christian schools in the community and with kids involved in the DayBreak Ministry. We will also be praying at the Capitol and White House. If you have a heart to not only serve through ministry but also pray for our nation and their leaders then we would love to have you! Estimated cost is $900.

Missions Covenant

Training for this trip will require preparatory meetings with my team once a week for several weeks (generally on Sunday evenings.) Meetings are essential for instruction, prayer, team development and unity. I commit to attend and participate in these meetings.

Raising funds for this trip may take some substantial effort on my part. There is a $100 non-refundable deposit due with this application. I understand I will not be placed on a trip until this deposit is paid. Additionally, there will be set dates as to when the remainder of the cost of the trip is due. It will be my responsibility to either pay or raise these funds by the set dates. Refunds will not be issued except in extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the Wesley director staff. Buddy passes are not allowed for any flights. I commit to participate in team fundraisers, write support letters to my family and/or friends, and speak about this trip in a church or group setting as the Lord leads. I understand that I must raise the full amount of my trip on my own and may not borrow funds from other mission team participants.

On this trip I will be seen as an ambassador of the Wesley Foundation, the University of Georgia, and Christ’s church as a whole. Knowing this, I commit to honor Christ in my words, dress, attitude and behavior.

13. I hereby agree to the Missions Covenant

Applications are due October 26. Deposits should be paid no later than November 2nd-but you will not be placed on a team until you turn in your deposit. You will be notified by your trip leader in November letting you know what trip you have been placed on. There will be a mandatory informational meeting after the Wednesday night service on November 16 for everyone who has signed up to be a part of a mission team.

Before turning in this application, please talk to your parents or respective guardians for their permission and blessing to be a part of one of these mission teams.

The staff of the Wesley Foundation commits to seek the Lord’s will concerning these trips. Teams will be formed based on prayer and each host missionary, country and team’s allowances and restrictions. Know that not everyone will receive his/her first choice, but God is good and He is sovereign!
