NOMINATIONS for the 2012 AHN AWARDS: Round Two

Honoring the Next Generation - Nomination Deadline: September 15, 2012

Every year the Arts and Healing Network honors artists who are truly making a difference in the world by using the creative process to heal and transform themselves, a community and/or the planet. Each recipient of an AHN Award receives a one-time monetary gift, as well as being featured on our web site at www.artheals.org. To learn more about the AHN Award and see examples of past awardees, please visit http://www.artheals.org/projects/ahn_award.html

In 2012, the Arts & Healing Network will be offering two separate rounds of awards. The first round is an open call for artists using art to heal. The nomination deadline is May 15, 2012. To learn more, please follow this link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2012AHNAwards_Nominations_RoundOne

The SECOND ROUND of awards is called "HONORING THE NEXT GENERATION." Awards of $5000 will be granted to 1-4 artists who are using art to heal and who are between the age of 18 and 35. The Arts & Healing Network wants to invest in the future of the art and healing movement by supporting young artists who have shown themselves to be real changemakers. We are especially looking for artists whose work is innovative and deeply inspiring. A big component of that is having a strong online presence - i.e. a web site or blog that articulately explains the work being created. We are interested in all forms of art and healing including environmental art, activist art, art that builds community, art in healthcare settings, and art for personal/collective healing.

This nomination form here is for ROUND TWO of the AHN Awards, and is therefore open to artists between the ages of 18 and 35. It is possible to nominate yourself. Nomination forms must be completed by SEPTEMBER 15, 2012. Please note that all information provided will be kept private and used only for the purposes of selecting this award. Nominees and nominators may be contacted by the Arts & Healing Network for additional information and verification. Awardee(s) will be announced in November 2012.

NOMINEES for ROUND TWO MUST MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

1) BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN CREATING WORK THAT COMBINES ART AND HEALING. By "art" we mean all creative arts such as visual arts, performance, dance, music, writing, etc. By "healing", we mean art that creates healing, social change, transformation, and/or community building. For examples, please see past awardees at http://www.artheals.org/projects/ahn_award.html

2) HAVE AN ACTIVE INTERNET PRESENCE (i.e. web site, blog, flickr stream, etc) that showcases the nominee's art and healing work. We require this for several reasons - it allows us to better understand the nominee's work and see visuals. It also demonstrates that the nominee is serious and committed to what they are building in the world. Sharing that vision online, when done well, can be as impactful and inspiring as the creative project itself.

3) BE BETWEEN 18 and 35 YEARS OLD.

Please note, you must fill in the form completely for your nominee to be considered. Being nominated once is sufficient.

If you have any questions, please contact ahn@artheals.org.
