SCHIMA Membership Quick Survey 1: What Do You Think?

In an effort to continue to strategically plan SCHIMA's activities for you, our membership and state's professionals, we will be starting a series of "Quick Surveys" to ask specific questions related to our organization. We ask for your input so that we can balance the many competing priorities of our organization that all require resources so that we are meeting your needs and expectations in the best way possible.

Please take a few minutes to complete our survey below, and, as always, do not hesitate to contact the SCHIMA Central Office at info@schima.org with questions, comments and/or requests.

STUDENT MEMBERS: Please do NOT complete this survey, as it is geared toward the ACTIVE/GRAD/SENIOR/CERT professionals of SCHIMA. We will be soliciting your participation in a separate survey specific to student and new graduate needs in December 2011.

Thank you!

SCHIMA currently provides a more-than-continental-breakfast and full lunch service for our educational events. Because the pricing of our events has not increased in more than five years (but the quality of food service provided, as well as the industry cost for food service have both increased), it is becoming more challenging to organize resources for events at our current rates. Please choose one of the following statements that best reflects your opinion:

As our membership and event attendance grows, SCHIMA is experiencing the "good problem" of outgrowing our traditional event spaces. Other event venues (hotels, conference centers) that would increase attendance capacity (and the comfort of attendees) are available, but at additional cost to SCHIMA for rental, food service, etc.

Please choose the following statement that best reflects your opinion:

One idea being discussed for our association's operating structure in the future is the creation of an optional state-level membership dues program (which is already being done in some other CSAs).

The annual dues would include the benefit of being able to attend up to three regional educational events of your choosing at no additional cost for the benefit year. (The membership dues total would be less than the published cost for attending three events individually.)

If you chose not to participate in the dues program, you would still be a member of SCHIMA, but would continue to pay the published rate for SCHIMA educational events as we do now. You would need to be an ACTIVE/GRAD/SENIOR member of AHIMA to participate in the program.

Have you volunteered for SCHIMA events, projects, etc. in the last year (even as one-time-only volunteers to assist at events)?

What keeps you personally from taking on volunteer opportunities (even one-time-only activities) with SCHIMA?
