We are researchers from the psychology division at The University of Northampton. You have been invited to participate in a study exploring femininity and masculinity, sexual behaviour and its possible links to humour within romantic relationships. You will also be asked some demographic questions about , for example your age, gender and ethnicity, which may influence your romantic preferences. However these details will not be used in anyway that could identify you. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire and read a short excerpt.

PARTICIPANT CRITERIA

• You need to be at least 18 years of age.
• Not currently in a romantic relationship.
• Currently living in the UK or USA.

PROCEDURE

The study is expected to take approximately 30 minutes to complete. If you choose to participate please select "continue" at the bottom of this page where you will be given further instructions.

PARTICIPANTS RIGHTS

• Participation is voluntary, please do not feel obligated.
• Should you begin the study and decide you wish to discontinue you can stop at any time by clicking on "exit this survey" at the top right hand corner of the screen and your data will be withdrawn.
• Once the data has been submitted it will not be possible to withdraw.
• When your data is submitted it will not be possible to identify the computer it came from since there will be no record of the IP address thus further ensuring your anonymity.
• It will not be possible to identify you from the data requested. This ensures you fully anonymity and confidentiality. No data will be passed onto 3rd parties.
• Ideally I would like you to answer all of the questions; however you are free to omit any question(s) should you feel uncomfortable.
• Approval for this study has been granted by The University of Northampton’s ethics committee.
