BUILDING HOPE SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:
1) Full time SCSU student
2) A legal alien or citizen of the United States
3) Sophomore, junior, senior accepted to graduate school or graduate student at SCSU
4) Obtained a minimum GPA of 2.0
5) Submit all elements necessary for a complete application and participate in an interview if selected as a finalist for the scholarship.
6) a.) Student must commit to volunteering for 100 hours with Habitat for Humanity in one (1) calendar year.
b.) Half of the award ($500) will be distributed to the scholarship recipient upon completion of 50 service hours with the remaining balance of the scholarship awarded upon completion of the full 100 hours of service to CMHFH.
c.) Awards will be disseminated, upon submission to SCSU Volunteer Connection, of an updated official SCSU Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) and letter from CMHFH verifying hours served.
d.) The 100 hour service commitment may begin anytime after scholarship award notification in Spring 2010, and must be completed by May 1, 2011.
Preference will be given to students who meet all qualifications and eligibility criteria as well as those that have prior service or service-learning experience.
