Elder Care Survey

1. Overview and Screening Questions

Thank you for your interest in our elder care survey. This survey is the result of collaboration between the NSF ADVANCE funded EXCELinSE (Excellence in Science and Engineering) Center at WSU, Innovative PR and the WSU Work/Life Committee. Together, we seek to determine the impact and extent of elder care issues for WSU employees. Information gathered in this survey will be used to determine current needs and concerns, guide recommendations and create a foundation for future work in the area of elder care support within the institution.

The survey contains 48 questions and should take no more than 20-25 minutes to complete. For the purpose of this survey, "elder care" is defined as "providing care for an aging parent, relative or non-relative, regardless of whether the person lives with you or not." We seek responses from all individuals, including those who do not expect to provide elder care as well as those who have provided, currently provide, or anticipate providing elder care. You are under no obligation to answer the survey questions below. All responses will be kept confidential. Thank you once again for your assistance in helping us to better understand this important topic!

1. Do you currently provide any degree of care for an individual aged 65 or older?

2. Have you or your family provided care for an elderly individual in the past three years?

3. Prior to the last three years, have you or your family ever cared for an elderly individual?

4. Do you anticipate that you will be responsible for providing elder care in the next five years?

(If you answered "no" or "I don't know" to question number 4, and "no" to questions 1-3, we thank you for your time and you may now go to the end of the survey and submit your responses. Otherwise, please continue with the survey.)
