SENIOR GREEK SPIRITUALITY AND RELIGION INITIATIVE
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about Lehigh's Senior Greek Spirituality and Religion Initiative, a part of our ongoing efforts to create space for dialogue and discussion at Lehigh. By setting up small group cohorts, we hope to give participants the opportunity to share their own spiritual and religious perspectives, to hear to the experiences of others and to grow in ways that typical interactions and settings do not encourage or allow.
• Each cohort will include between 12 to 16 Senior students and will meet on a monthly basis for the entire academic year. To ensure conversational flow and continuity, students will be asked to commit to attending all sessions.
• Sessions will be held in locations that are convenient for participants. To support Senior attendance and participation, cohorts are likely to meet primarily at off-campus sites, including student apartments and houses.
• Cohort meetings will be driven by the interests, goals and voices of student participants. Although the first two sessions will have set topics (defining “religion” and “spirituality,” and sharing individual religious and spiritual journeys), subsequent topics will be selected by students and guided by the religious and spiritual questions that resonate with cohort participants.
• Participants need not be adherents of a particular religion or think of themselves as particularly spiritual individuals.
• The cohort is intended to be egalitarian and collaborative in its format and without a specific individual as a permanent “leader.” After the initial sessions facilitated by Lehigh staff, students will assume responsibility and serve as facilitators on a rotating basis.
• Although we are considering the possibility of establishing additional cohorts in the future, the Initiative is currently open only to Lehigh Seniors.
• Applications for the Initiative are due by September 10. The first session will be held in the second half of September.
