1. Portage Schools Budget Survey

Exit this survey
Given the magnitude of the current school budget crisis, and the fact that more than 80% of any school district’s cost is for personnel, the District is facing the distinct possibility of personnel reductions (which will certainly impact instruction), as well as numerous other budget reductions. Your participation in this survey will help the District gauge the community's priorities as we make significant changes to our budget.

1. Would you be in favor of pay-to-participate fees to maintain athletic and extra-curricular programs at the middle schools and high schools?

2. Should the District consider the elimination of high school transportation?

3. Would you support an increase in the average elementary class of 4 to 6 students per class (average size is currently 22)?

4. Would you support an increase in the average middle school class of 4 to 6 students per class (average size is currently 26)?

5. Would you support an increase in the average high school class of 4 to 6 students per class (average class size is currently 26)?

6. Should the District and its labor groups work on wage and benefit reductions to reduce the number of lay offs?

7. List three areas that should be reduced, restructured, or eliminated.

8. List three areas you believe should not be reduced, restructured, or eliminated.

9. We welcome additional comments on any budget issues:

10. Do you have any children age 17 or younger living in your household?

11. If yes, do they attend Portage Public Schools?
