1. Explain why the use of non-culture based techniques of microbial analysis will help us learn more about diseases such as necrotizing enterocolitis, autoimmune diseases, and obesity.
2. Explain some of the valuable functions of the microbes that reside in the human intestine.
3. Explain why perturbing the intestinal microbes early in life may have detrimental consequences for health later in life.
