The Pro Football Hall of Fame honors the greatest players, coaches and contributors to the history of professional football, which dates to 1920 right here in Canton. Six more greats in the Class of 2009 will bring to 253 the number of football immortals ehshrined here.
Who are the greatest among these greats?
The Repository and CantonRep.com are trying to determine just that, and we want YOU to weigh in. Following is a list of Hall of Famers; to participate, rank your Top 50 here. Select who you think is the greatest Hall of Famer with a #1, and continue ranking through #50. PLEASE FOLLOW THIS FORMAT...#1, #2, #3 for all entries. The survey is designed so that you must include 50 selections.
Reader votes will be compiled and will appear in a special section on Tuesday, Aug. 4, that will celebrate what a panel of experts considers to be the Top 50 Hall of Famers.
We already have done some of the work for you, eliminating 54 Hall of Famers, many of whom were among the earliest classes enshrined. We list the remaining 199 Hall of Famers. The 200th slot allow gives you the opportunity to select one of the ones we eliminated, should you feel one of those deserves to be ranked in the top 50 Hall of Famers of all-time.
