For the next question:

There are three SDS National Projects currently asking for Funds. We are asking you to help pick priorities!

Here is a description of the Projects, the Work they are doing, and the Needs that they have.

---------------------------------------------------------
The 2008 National Convention is the place where we do our most critical national work for the year. Over 300 SDSers will come together to build our organization.

Needs: Housing + Food for 300 SDSers. Travel stipends for dozens of SDSers from far-away regions or working class backgrounds. Cost of Living expenses for 3-5 outside facilitators.

---------------------------------------------------------

The Action Camps will bring together 60 SDSers this summer to help build a new generation of leadership in SDS. We will learn chapterbuilding and organizing skills from trainers from within and without.

Needs: Housing + Food for 60 SDSers. Travel stipends for working class SDSers. Travel and Accommodations for 6 outside trainers.

---------------------------------------------------------

This summer, a local SDS chapter is hosting students to arrive at the RNC. They are not organizing any action with SDS's name on it. They want to provide resources so SDSer's can come and do whatever they want, however.

Needs: Props, Supplies, and Protest Materials for SDSers who are coming to the RNC, and want to do actions and make banners and other items.

4. There are currently three sds projects that have requested funds for their work this summer: the National Convention, the Action Camp, and the RNC working group. How should the fundraising working group prioritize which funding for these working groups?

5. In order for sds to be a totally student run organization, we have to start funding our own work. So the fundraising working group is asking chapters to raise $100 for the national work happening this summer. We have around 100 active chapters so this means we can totally fund ourselves if we all do a little bit of work. Your chapter could put on a bake sale, concert, or even just pass the hat a few meetings. Will your chapter be able to meet this fundraising goal?

6. In order to become monetarily self-sufficient, we are also asking individuals to raise $100-300 by asking friends, family, professors, or other folks you may know to contribute to the work you do, if this is appropriate for their current economic situation. We know this sort of work can be hard, but its important so if you are interested, let us know and we can help you to fund sds. Tell us how much you can do this summer. (All answers are great, we know folks are really busy doing amazing local work!)

7. Do you have any comments to help us better do our work?
