1. User Group Structure

The managers and co-managers of the IU Multimedia User Group (IUMMUG) and the IU Flash User Group (IUFUG) have been chatting and think that it might be time to reorganize and redistribute so that we can cover more topics and serve more interests and skill levels. We want input from the members.

This survey will give you a chance to voice your opinion on the reorganized structure and redistribution of topics we are considering. We don't claim to have all the answers so if you've got a better idea, let us know! There is a lot of exciting technology out there and a lot of your colleagues are doing great work we'd like to share.

Thank you for taking the time to help us with your user groups!

-Bob

1. Our idea is to coordinate the two user groups more closely with a better distribution of topics. They would be under the umbrella of one community. Our working idea is to call it the "IU Web/Multimedia Community" with the groups being the "IU Developers User Group" and the "IU Designers User Group". What do you think of those titles? Yes, we are clearly not as creative as the technologies we use, but that's why we are asking for your help. Do you have other suggestions? You might want to consider the next question before answering this one.

There is broad range of technologies that interest our members and managers. We want to divvy them up as logically as we can into two groups so that we can double our opportunity to bring them before you. This is not an exhaustive list, it's just to help us structure things.

Please place each of the following items into one of the two groups listed in the following questions:
- RIA
- Programming
- Video
- Audio
- Design
- 3D
- Usability
- Information Architecture
- Accessibility
- Web (XHTML/CSS?)
- Motion media

2. Which technologies from the list would you place into the DEVELOPMENT group? Are there any more you would add?

3. Which technologies from the list would you place in the DESIGN group? Are there any more you would add?

4. Is there a third group that you would introduce? If so, what would you call it and which technologies would you put in it?

5. Give us your thoughts on the whole re-org idea. We want to hear what you have to say.

6. Which of the following do you consider yourself?
