Individuals' motivation to engage in massively multiplayer online role playing games

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

You are invited to take part in a study which explores the various reasons individuals play massively multiple online role playing games (MMORPG).

The research is being conducted by Megan Christie to meet the requirements of Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) at the University of Western Sydney. The study is being supervised by Dr. Helen Correia, Associate Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Western Sydney.

Anyone who regularly plays MMORPGs is able to participate in this study. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a series of self-report anonymous questionnaires relating to your experiences playing MMORPGs, and your general thoughts and feelings. The questionnaires are located online and take approximately 35 minutes to complete.

Participation within this research will provide you with an opportunity to discuss elements and features of MMORPGs. Your active participation will help decrease the amount of generalisations made regarding MMORPGs and will greatly enhance the understanding of this particular online application.

While the majority of the questions are not overtly sensitive in nature, responding to some items may lead to discomfort, or concern for some individuals. Please note; if you become distressed as a result of any of the included topics, the following service may be useful:
