SPARK Academy opened in August of 2009 in Newark's West Ward with 100 kindergarten students.

By adding one grade each year, SPARK Academy will eventually serve 500 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fourth grade.

SPARK Academy offers a rigorous and developmentally appropriate college preparatory curriculum including a unique focus on literacy across the subject areas, science, service learning, and Spanish.

SPARK Academy, TEAM’s first elementary school, is a KIPP School with a mission, teaching methods, and college prep focus similar to TEAM’s highly-successful middle and high schools.

All students who enroll in SPARK Academy will have the opportunity to continue through TEAM Schools until they graduate from high school and be a part of one of the finest K-12 urban school systems in the nation. TEAM Schools also help all students gain admission to college and support them as they earn a degree.

As a free public school, TEAM Charter Schools does not discriminate in admissions. All applicants enter a lottery where every student has an equal chance of being selected. By submitting this application, your child’s name will be placed in SPARK Academy Elementary School’s lottery this winter. We are required to give preference to Newark residents and siblings of current TEAM students.
