At the meeting of the Committee on Cataloging at the SLA annual conference in June, the question arose as to the amount and types of cataloging done by members of SLA and their institutions or organizations. A directory of catalogers had been issued in 1988, but a summary report was not prepared. However, there was evidence that many members catalog or supervise cataloging at least part of the time. A summary of cataloging activities will provide a good base line this year and assist the committee in planning for future activities that will be valuable for our members.
