SWGfL eSafety Pratice Survey

1. SWGfL eSafety Practice Survey

The South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) provides safe broadband services and learning content to schools across the SW of England. Included within these services are the pro-active filtering of unsuitable sites and the monitoring of internet activity across the Grid.

SWGfL has been at the forefront of national developments in promoting e-safety. The SWGfL Safe website provides good practice guidance for schools, governors, policy makers, parents and young people. The annual SWGfL E-Safety Conferences are well supported and provide up to date information and discussion on current e-safety issues.

Surveys, by interview, of secondary and primary schools across the region have provided valuable evidence of the state of e-safety in schools. In association with the University of Plymouth, SWGfL have developed this on-line survey which is intended to widen the number of schools that are surveyed and create a larger body of evidence on which to base future SWGfL and national e-safety guidance and support. Analysis of the results, by eSafety researchers at the University of Plymouth, will help improve our understanding of eSafety in schools in the South West, and barriers to more effective practice. In turn, this research will inform regional and national policy on eSafety.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey and provide this valuable evidence.
