Informed Consent

 
The purpose of this study is to learn about your experience and thoughts about a recent foreclosure. You will be asked to write about your experiences and then answer a few short questionnaires.

Time Required: 20 min.

Risks and Benefits: Expressive writing has been shown to have health and well-being benefits for those who have experienced negative events. You may experience these benefits as a result of your participation in this study. You will also benefit by learning about psychological experimentation. There are no more than minimal risks.

Confidentiality: Your identity and responses will be kept confidential. You will be assigned a code number, and your responses will be stored in a computer according to the code number and not by your name. As such, your name will not be associated with your responses and will not be used in any report. Moreover, all data will be analyzed by group averages and not by individual responses.

Voluntary Participation & Right to Withdraw: Your participation in this study is voluntary. There is no penalty for not participating. You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without consequence.
