NPCA Advocacy 2010 Priorities
 

1. Help Us Decide 2010 Advocacy Priorities

 
The NPCA Standing Committee on Policy and Advocacy seeks your input as we select 1 – 3 advocacy priorities for 2010.

In the coming weeks, the committee will choose at least one Peace Corps issue and at least one issue of global concern as a priority for information dissemination and action opportunities throughout the year.

How You Can Help: The committee will consider a variety of factors in finalizing 2010 priorities, including potential for success, potential for collaboration with other groups and the potential to secure financial resources to support advocacy on our priority issues. The results of this survey will also inform the committee as it finalizes its decision and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Please answer the following three questions to provide your input to the committee.

50th Anniversary (Advocacy to build momentum marking the 50th anniversary of Peace Corps in 2011)

Climate Change (Address policies and promote activities to combat the harmful effects of climate change and promote global environmental responsibility)
Debt Relief and Development Aid (Encouraging debt relief and development aid by developed countries for developing, underdeveloped, impoverished and indebted countries)
Universal Basic Education (Address policies and promote activities aimed toward the creation of a Global Fund for Education)
Global Volunteerism (Following the model of Service Nation and passage of the “Serve America Act”, advocate with like-minded organizations to promote and advance Peace Corps and other forms of global volunteerism)
Identity-Based Human Rights (Address policies and promote activities to address various human rights abuses including human sex trafficking, gender discrimination, Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender rights, and other related issues)

Our newsletter provides a monthly advocacy update with news and actions on various advocacy initiatives. We also send intermittent urgent action alerts and updates. Subscribers generally receive two messages a month, slightly more during particularly key advocacy moments.
