1. CONFERENCE THEME - The Future Role of Black Studies in the Diaspora

 
Temple University's AYA: African American Studies Graduate Students are pleased to invite you to participate in our annual AYA Spring Conference. In an attempt to shape the direction of the discipline’s future, the graduate students at Temple want to encourage scholastic dialogue amongst peers relating to our role in propelling the discipline of African American Studies forward in the 21st century. We feel it is necessary to come together as colleagues to ensure the future growth and development of our discipline and its impact on the African community.
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL

Presentations should be designed to analyze and generate conversation addressing issues relating to (but not limited to): The Black Student Union; Africana Activism; Africana Intellectual Thought and History; African-Centered Education and Pedagogy; Africana Women’s Studies and Womanism; African/African American History and Culture; Africana Studies; Theories, Issues and Concerns; African/African American Literature; African Aesthetics and Philosophy; African Community and Economics; Domestic and Foreign Policy in the African World; Black Psychology; Modern Science and Technology; Service Learning and Community Based Research; Critical Ethnography and Urban Studies. Proposals addressing the research and the application of concepts related to the theme are also invited.

All presenters will be responsible for their own conference fees and travel expenses. Please use the following guidelines to complete and submit your proposal to present your work during the conference.

The conference dates are April 09-10, 2010.
The time: Friday 5-8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Deadline for Submitting Abstract: March 27, 2010
Accepted presenters will be notified by: March 28, 2010
Registration fee due: April 02, 2010
