2010 Moreland School District Budget Challenge

The California State Budget crisis is going to hit Moreland in the classroom this year. The Moreland School Board recently approved 2010-2011 school year budget cuts of $2.4 Million that will impact programs and students at all of our schools. This $2.4 Million is on top of $2.5 Million in cuts made in the past two school years, for a total of $5 Million in cuts to our district schools! This year's cuts will directly impact the quality of our childrens' education through teacher layoffs, classroom size increases, and programs currently provided.

The Moreland Educational Foundation (MEF) is a non-profit organization of parents and community members dedicated to supporting quality education in the Moreland School District. To date we have donated over $750,000 to Moreland to help keep our libraries open, fund our 4th-8th grade Music Program, provide library technology, fund math curriculum, technology purchases and to provide teacher training. A key difference between MEF and your Home & School Club is that MEF can fund teacher salaries at all schools, while Home & School Clubs cannot.

Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey. Your response is anonymous. Results will be tabulated and used by MEF to prioritize the issues and programs that we will fund in concert with the school district.

Thank you in advance for your time.
