1. Due to the way our 2010-2011 calendar falls, the JDFA executive council is asking for input as to how we can best meet N.Y.S. requirements as well as those of our members. Labor Day falls on September 6th this coming year. Rosh Hashanah is observed on Thursday September 9th. Under our traditional format, Tuesday would be conference day, students would attend Wednesday, we'd have an observance day Thursday, and return to finish the week on Friday. This calendar occurrence makes for a very auspicious start to the school year and could affect vacation periods. Below you will find some alternative options that may rectify the situation, as well as keep all vacation periods intact. Please select one option from the list. This information will allow the executive council to share the input of what best meets the preferences of association members.
Please note that not observing specific holidays is NOT an option.

 Pick One
Start after Labor Day and potentially work the day before Thanksgiving
Start after Labor Day and potentially take day from February break
Start after Labor Day and potentially take day from April break
Have a superintendents conference day in the week prior to Labor Day and begin with students on Tuesday after Labor Day
Begin the year prior to Labor Day for teachers as well as students (Keeping intact all school vacation periods)

2. Please select the format that you would like to see for our end of the year Annual Meeting and Retirement Dinner.

 Pick One
Hold the Annual Meeting and less formal Retirement Party together on the same evening
Hold the Annual Meeting and Retirement Dinner separately including all district personnel
Hold the Annual Meeting and retirement Dinner separately including only JDFA retirees
