Your participation in a research project is requested. The title of the study is What is Causing the Changing Climate for Gay and Lesbian Youth? The research is being conducted by Dr. Frank Muscarella, a professor in the Psychology Department at Barry University, and is seeking information that will be useful in the field of psychology. The aims of this research are to gather opinions, attitudes, and behaviors of college students. The study surveys college students’ attitudes toward their peers and the possible cause of these attitudes. We anticipate the number of participants to be 500.
If you decide to be a research participant, you will be asked to do the following: complete four questionnaires. The amount of time it will take to complete the questionnaires is approximately 20 minutes.
Your consent to be a research participant is strictly voluntary and should you decline to participate or should you choose to drop out at any time during the study, there will be no adverse effects to you. There are no known risks to you, and you may skip any items you do not want to answer. For those receiving extra credit for your participation, please print this consent form as proof of participation. If you choose to end your participation at any time, this will have no adverse effects on your ability to receive extra credit. Although there are no direct benefits to you, your participation will contribute to scientific knowledge in this area.
As a research participant, information you provide will be kept anonymous, that is, no names or other identifiers will be collected on any of the instruments used. SurveyMonkey will collect your IP address, but this will not be sent to the researcher. However, SurveyMonkey.com does use the IP address for it own purpose.
