Feasibility Study for a Lewes Car Club
1. Background
Transition Town Lewes is conducting a car club feasibility study in partnership with Lewes District Council.
Car clubs are a transitional approach to transport in the form of pay-as-you-go cars collected from dedicated parking bays. Car clubs have been shown to reduce traffic and congestion, with studies showing that one car club car removes an average of 10 cars from the road.
A car club would help address the problem of poor air quality in the centre of Lewes. Lewes District Council has launched a strategy, under the name of Think Air, to create an Air Quality Action Plan, and to gather members of the community and the council to work together to create imaginative solutions.
This study will look at the feasibility, cost and levels of interest in a car club, as well as whether the car club should be run by a local company or a national one.
All entrants giving their contact details (data protection applies) will be entered for a prize draw for a £30 voucher for clothing from The Cotton Shop, Gossypium, Lewes.
