Survey on the Impact of Asperger Syndrome on young adults with the condition - Informed Consent

You are being invited to take part in a research study about the behavioural impact of Asperger Syndrome (AS) on young adults with the condition aged between 18 and 34. We are encouraging those with AS to consider completing the questionnaire. We believe that having the perspective of AS participants on how having AS impacts upon them will be very informative and may contribute to guiding professionals in offering supportive strategies. The total amount of time you will be asked to volunteer for this study is approximately 25 minutes.

This study is being conducted by three psychology students in Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland under the supervision of a registered psychologist.

You are not asked for and should not provide your name. Data gathered will be stored on a computer that is password protected and accessible only to the research team. These steps contribute to maintaining confidentiality. Results will be written up, possibly published and presented at educational events. Quotes may be used, but once again, no personally identifying information will be referenced.

If you decide to take part in the study you still have the right to decide at any time that you no longer wish to continue. You can stop at any time during the study simply by exiting from the website.

In the unlikely event that the questionnaire results in a degree of significant distress please contact your local mental health support phone line (the phone number will be available in the phone book and through information services).

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any of the researchers listed below. By returning this statement you are giving informed consent. You are encouraged to save a copy of this statement for your records.
