In 2009, the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) joined forces to promote "The Common Core State Standards Initiative."

Because Georgia is one of the states that has joined this initiatve, The National PTA is asking our membership to help with a brief research study. The objective is to establish current levels of awareness and impressions of these Standards before efforts begin to educate parents and students about the program.

Over the next year, efforts will be made, both nationally and locally, to educate parents, teachers and administrators about these new standards. We will then be able to measure the effectiveness of the campaign by comparing today's results with those obtained later in the year.
