Swedish Language Newspapers Digitization Project Survey

1. Survey Introduction

The American Swedish Institute and the Minnesota Historical Society are leading an international partnership that proposes to digitize and place online a selection of Swedish language newspapers published in the United States.

To understand better the needs of any potential users, we developed a brief survey that asks about your interests, capacities and expectations. There are only ten questions; this should only take about five minutes.

Other participating institutions include the National Library of Sweden, Stockholm; the Swedish-American Historical Society, Chicago; the Swedish American Center, Karlstad; the Swedish Emigrant Institute, Växjö; and the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center, Rock Island, Illinois.

This would be the first step in a more comprehensive effort to knit together digital resources on both sides of the Atlantic.

We will not collect any personal information from respondents, nor use the results of the survey for any other purpose than developing a proposal for funding the digitization. If you would like more information on the effort, please email Robert Horton directly (robert.horton@mnhs.org).

The exploratory phase of this project is funded by the Osher Pro Suecia Foundation; we are very grateful for its support.
