Working Skills Centre (WSC) is a community-based, non-profit organization that supports immigrants. World Service Cargo is a Practice Firm (PF) coordinated by Working Skills Centre that provides foreign trained and skilled women/men with the opportunity to obtain work experience in a Canadian business environment.

Purpose of this survey:

The immigrant's survey is a research initiative of Working Skills Centre to understand the challenges faced by immigrants. We, at Working Skills Centre, are interested in learning about your perceptions and any difficulties you have faced in getting Canadian work experience and employment in your profession upon your arrival in Canada.


"No Canadian Work Experience"

An immigrant, who has obtained education and work experience from her/his country of origin often faces a major hurdle getting a job in Canada. The challenge is, unless one is employed in Canada, one cannot get experience and one cannot get employed because employers tend to hire someone who has already Canadian work experience.

This research project is funded by Employment Ontario, and your answers will contribute to the understanding of this issue for the policy makers at Employment Ontario. Your answers will also benefit new immigrants who can learn from your experiences and other stakeholders of this study, such as funders of settlement programs, immigration/ integration authorities, researchers and interest groups working to help professionally qualified and experienced newcomes, very recent, and recent immigrants.
