Asbestos management in system built schools and system built children’s settings
Exit this survey 1. Introduction
DCSF and HSE have designed this questionnaire as a follow up to the guidance issued by HSE in 2007 on asbestos management in CLASP and other system-type buildings in schools and other children's settings. See guidance at www.hse.gov.uk/services/education/asbestos.htm
The questionnaire should be completed by Local Authorities/Local Education Authorities and Diocese for schools and other children’s settings where they have or share any responsibility for maintenance. Please provide nil returns where you do not have any relevant buildings. The questionnaire will also be useful for all duty holders of these buildings under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.
The questionnaire also provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of the 'duty to manage' asbestos. Information about the condition and location of asbestos containing materials must be provided to anyone who is liable to work on or disturb them. In particular people or organisations that have roles in repair, maintenance and refurbishment should not start until they are given the relevant information on any asbestos present. Health and safety information on the dangers and management of asbestos is available at www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/index.htm
