The purpose of this research is to identify racial and ethnic minority students’ perceptions of experiences with various aspects of prejudice and discrimination they might have had in their graduate counseling program. The findings of this study will benefit the field of counselor education by providing insight into the current state of affairs in counseling programs from the perspective of racial and ethnic minority students. It will also encourage faculty to recognize what might be a healthy or unhealthy environment for such students and make necessary changes that would help these students succeed.

Your participation in this study is voluntary. You are free to refuse to participate or to withdraw at any time, without negative consequences. No known risks or discomforts to research participants are expected. All information will remain anonymous. No identifying data will be collected, and your anonymity is further protected by not asking you to sign and return an informed consent document. Confidentiality will be maintained using a number code system that will be assigned to the online responses. Clicking “I agree” on the online cover page and continuing to begin the study will serve as your acceptance of the information provided in this informed consent document and your consent to participate in this study. Data for this study will be entered into a password protected computer. You will be required to complete a demographic questionnaire and a survey. It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete both.
