1. The Team in Test Analysis

 1 / 2
This section looks at the way the Team as a whole may define the Test Analysis approaches.

1. When being engaged to test a development item you should be provided some way of learning about the item you have to test. Perhaps through a Requirements document or Walkthrough.

* What's the first artifact or activity that you are exposed to for informing your analysis of testing needs?

Use the standard name for the artifact or activity or the name used in your organisation, describing it in general terms.

2. In some way the test team will need to record the testing needs that have been identified.

* What document or artifact do you produce that captures your initial analysis of testing needs?

These may be in many forms such as Test Breakdowns, Scenarios, Cases, etc. Use the name of the item produced within your team and provide a brief description to clarify what it is.

3. Thinking about the way in which you identify the testing needed.

* Do you write for the explicitly stated test needs and then the implicit ones? The other way around? Something else?

Please describe how you generally work through identifying test needs from the most apparent to those that may require some consideration to identify.

4. Thinking about when you are initially working to identify the testing needed and then commencing writing your initial document.

* What techniques and approaches do you use to identify the testing needed?

Please mention any specific known technique or describe in your own words your approach for identifying these initial test needs.

5. Having created the initial list of testing needs the common practice is for some form of review of what's been written.

* How do you go about performing a review of the testing needs you have identified?

This may be a Walkthrough, mail out for individuals to read, etc. Please provide an outline of the activity used in your team.

6. Within your organisation does a group based activity such as Brainstorming or Walkthrough take place to arrive at the most complete set of testing scenarios, cases, etc.?

If so please describe the nature of this group based approach.
