Hillyer Alumni Survey

1. Introduction

Greetings from Hillyer College at the University of Hartford. Every ten years, the University and Hillyer College undergo an accreditation and program review. This is done by individuals external from the University. Their purpose is not only to review what exists but also to help us consider possibilities with an eye toward the future. I believe the alumni of the College should contribute to our thinking. What follows, therefore, is a survey that looks back on your experience, where it took you in terms of continued education and career, and a focus on what might make our College regionally and nationally prominent.

This spring, Hillyer College is embarking on a capital project which I believe will transform the College and enhance its already strong reputation. We have raised sixty percent of the funds needed to renovate and expand Hillyer Hall, the oldest building on campus. This project will provide Hillyer students a suitable home and a gathering place that mirrors the quality of the College and other state-of-the-art campus facilities like the Integrated Science, Engineering, and Technology (ISET) complex, the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, and the Renée Samuels Center. This new facility, The Shaw Center at Hillyer College, will include high-tech electronic classrooms, a conference center for Hillyer’s Honors Program, and real faculty offices that give students the ability to have private conversations with professors and advisors. This project will not only dramatically improve our facilities, it will instill an even greater sense of pride among our student body.

The following survey asks you your thoughts on the above project, and other important initiatives. Thank you in advance for taking the time to provide your feedback. It would be most appreciated if this could be completed and returned by December 15.

Sincerely,

Dr. David H. Goldenberg ’73
