Introduction
The "National Birth Center Study" has been rated the premiere research on modern midwifery by nurse-midwifery researchers, however, it was published in 1990.
Would you like more current research to support your practice?
Using the AABC Uniform Data Set (UDS), the American Association of Birth Centers is launching the AABC National Study of Optimal Birth. We are seeking birth centers and midwifery practices (all settings) to enroll in this research project. By including all maternity care providers in all settings we will have comprehensive data on both the process and outcomes of the midwifery model of care.
The AABC Uniform Data Set (UDS) will be the instrument for the study. In development over the past ten years, the UDS is an online data registry designed to collect prospective data simultaneously from all providers in all settings - hospital, birth center and home. A subscription to the UDS will be required to participate in the Study. This is free for AABC Birth Center and Institutional Members. You can learn more about the UDS at www.birthcenters.org/data-collection.
Please complete this brief survey to indicate your willingness to participate in this important study.
