1. Last year our PTSA defined its mission as follows: "The Seattle Special Education PTSA is dedicated to assisting families of students with disabilities as they navigate the educational system, partnering with parents and educators as we advocate for improvements in the special education system, and building bridges between the general and special education communities to bring increased educational resources and opportunities for all students." How did we do?

2. Which topics would you like to see addressed at our general meetings?

3. What are the most important areas to focus on with district officials this year?

4. What kind of information would you like to see in our monthly newsletter?

5. Last Spring our PTSA co-sponsored a Service Fair with the district. At the fair, attendees could "browse" the tables of service providers and attend workshops put on by district personnel that addressed topics such as the IEP process, the WASL and alternative assessments, positive collaboration, Individual Transition Plans, and post secondary programs and graduation requirements. What services would you like to learn about at such a fair?

6. Would you attend a Service Fair that addressed the topics you indicated above?

7. Our PTSA will sponsor a conference on Saturday, October 17, called “Best Practices for Inclusive Schools,”at the John Stanford Center Auditorium. We invite parents and teachers -- both general ed and special ed – to spend the morning and early afternoon with our keynote speaker, Dr. Elise Frattura, who will address the impact of the ICS model on both special and general ed populations followed by a panel discussion and audience break-out groups that will explore the application of this model to Seattle Public Schools. Bill, Jo, and Chanel Krueger will close out the conference with a presentation on their daughter’s successful experience in inclusive settings. Do you plan to attend?

8. If you answered yes to the previous question, what do you hope to learn about?

9. Please tell us what concerns you most about the special ed services your child receives and how you believe our PTSA can help you.

10. If you would like to become more active in our PTSA, please indicate your interest areas below and provide us with your contact information (name, email address, phone number, and child's school). The mission of our working groups is to look deeper into a topic and make recommendations to our board for policies/procedures that the district should implement. Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey!
