1. DYO Spring Symposium

The Spring 2009 DYO Symposium will be held on Tuesday, May 12 from 8:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. DYO schools that are not part of a cohort are required to send a representative to both the fall and spring forums. Schools that are part of a cohort are also encouraged to participate. We are very excited that Heidi Hayes Jacobs will be joining us at this event. We ask that you arrive on time to take advantage of her keynote address.

Each participating school should bring a poster that will be used to facilitate informal conversations around each school’s DYO in a gallery walk. The poster should at least include: school and contact information, basic DYO information (subjects and grade ranges, renewal or first year), a sample task, and sample student work. You may also want to include any additional information that will enhance your conversations with other educators such as rubrics, teacher commentary, samples of aggregated data, etc.

One of the most common pieces of feedback we got from the Fall Symposium was that it would have been more successful had all participants brought the requested artifacts. Please help us use your feedback to improve this event by bringing your poster and any other artifacts that would be an asset to your roundtable discussions.

The Spring Symposium will be held from 8:30 am - 3:00 p.m. at
45-18 Court Square, 2nd Floor
Long Island City, NY 11101
