1. Introduction
Many of you will already have signed the petition to ‘Save the Rufford Ceramic Centre’ and will have just read our letter to all petitioners setting out the purpose of this survey.
Please now proceed to the next page to complete the Survey. Thank you very much for your time and interest.
For those of you who were not previously involved you might like to read the
Save Rufford Blog but in summary Notts. County Council (NCC) has planned and is implementing a plan to greatly reduce the role of Rufford in Contemporary Ceramics, and while the petition (signed by about 1500 people) has had some influence and forced them to give limited commitments it is clear that that they no longer want or will support Rufford as a major and Internationally acclaimed Ceramics Centre.
Faced with this, the organisers of the petition offered the NCC the possibility that we would create a Trust to cover a lot of the costs needed to maintain and even increase Rufford's role as a major centre for Ceramics. This was met with blunt rejection by NCC but has found substantial interest from some of the Petitioners. Therefore we, the petition committee have decided to undertake a survey to explore whether there is sufficient support for us to undertake a study on creating a National Ceramic Art Centre and a Trust (National Ceramic Art Trust - NCAT) to support it.
Please now go to the questionnaire and complete it – We will be most grateful and thank you for your time and interest.
