Please choose one candidate for President:
David Edgell for President - I would like to run for the office of president of the student chapter of the STC. I have been interim vice president of the STC chapter and I have learned what qualities are required for the president's office. Since Josh will be leaving during the following year, I would like to bring my experience and advance as the president of our STC chapter. With the help of Dr. Eaton, we have been able to put together meetings, pull in practitioners to speak, and make those talks available to graduate students in the distance education program. In the coming year, I will continue to make the organization and the meetings productive for all members of the student chapter.

Please choose one candidate for Vice President:
Bailey Miller for Vice President - I would like to run for the position of STC Vice President. I have served this year as the interim Philanthropy Chair. I am very involved and committed to reviving this once award winning STC chapter. Texas Tech has the best Technical Communication program in the nation, and our STC chapter should reflect the excellent students we have in our program. I feel that I am qualified for this position, as I am very comfortable in a leadership role. For the last four years I have served as the manager of a local pool, where I had many responsibilities and made many effective changes. As a graduate student, I feel I have the ability to lead and delegate well. I look forward to serving in this organization, and the places that we will take it. I know that with a strong executive board, we can make this chapter really shine.

Please choose one candidate for Website Editor:
Emil Towner for Website Editor--I am running for re-election as the Website Editor because I believe it is the best way for me to participate in and apply my industry experience to the TTU STC chapter. For the past 12 years, I have worked as a communications and website writer responsible for researching, writing, editing, and managing projects ranging from web content and e-communications to interactive online presentations. I have also taught courses in business writing and principles of mass media that focused heavily on website communication and new media. In addition, I have experience leading communications committees and website redesign teams for various public service organizations. Finally, I have been serving as the interim Web Editor since January 2009.

Please choose one candidate for Fundraising Chair:
Greg Zobel for Fundraising Chair -- I've co-owned/operated an online book and art business with my partner since 1995, so I have experience in acquiring and disposing of texts in the most efficient and profitable manner as possible retail, online auction, donation, etc.). Book sales are usually a waste of time and effort unless there are hundreds of titles. Even then, depending on what titles are available, it would make more sense to sell them at half.com, to an academic reseller, or to put them on commission with Rich's shop. I've worked in retail management for years, so I understand delegation and how to be/not be blunt when dealing with people. I've worked in non-profit retail management (Goodwill), and I know how profit margins can be thin, and I also know that when people donate stuff (goods or services) it's as much an effort to off-load something as it is help out the cause. I've written one successful grant. Thus, writing frants/proposals for the chapter is something I can see as benefiting everyone involved.A few fundraising ideas off the top of my head: Running TC-related workshops and asking for suggested donations? Guest speakers for webcast? transcript? Perhaps offer additional training workshops in accessibility, usability, grant writing for students to increase their skills/marketability and charge/request donations.I don't like to waste time. I run short meetings. I'm nice, easy, and I do what I say I'll do.
