HOW TO ENTER: Nominations may be made by mail or online at www.traditionalhome.com. If you know a woman who is making a difference in her community through her own volunteer efforts or through her involvement with an established volunteer program, (A) tell us in 200–500 words what the nominee has done and describe her specific achievements, and (B) provide the nominee’s name, address, daytime phone number, your relationship to the nominee; the name and a description of the volunteer program in which the nominee is involved, and a contact name and telephone number for someone at the program we could contact for more information about the nominee. Submit completed nomination online or mail the nomination along with your name, address, daytime phone number, age and e-mail address (optional) to: TRADITIONAL HOME CLASSIC WOMAN AWARDS, P.O. Box 7290, Des Moines, IA 50309-7290. Nominations must be original and neither previously published nor having won any other award.


CONTEST PERIOD: Contest begins 1/15/08 and ends 4/4/08. Mail entries must be postmarked on or before 4/4/08 and received by 4/11/08. Online entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Central Time, 4/4/08. Nominations become the property of Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, IA (“Sponsor”) and will not be acknowledged or returned.


ELIGIBILITY: Legal U.S. residents 18 years of age or older are eligible to submit one nomination for a woman known to them (aged 18 or older) who makes a difference, except employees of Sponsor, its agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and members of their immediate families or persons residing in the same household.


WINNER SELECTION/JUDGING CRITERIA: On or about 5/12/08 a panel of judges will review and select five (5) winning nominees from among all eligible nominations based on the nominator’s description of: impact of the nominee’s volunteer efforts on her community or specific group of individuals (30%); cumulative effect of the nominee’s volunteer efforts (30%); amount of nominee’s time given to the volunteer effort (20%); substance and overall coherence of the written nomination (20%). Sponsor reserves the right to request additional information from the nominator about the nominee, her volunteer efforts, or the program for which she volunteers. Potential winning nominees and nominators will be notified by telephone, mail, or e-mail on or about 6/9/08. In the event of a tie, the entry with the highest score in the first criterion category listed above (impact of the nominee’s volunteer efforts on her community or specific group of individuals) will be a winner. Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects.

PRIZES: Five (5) winning nominees will each receive a 3-day, 2-night trip to New York City for two to attend a recognition reception, including round-trip coach air transportation from the major airport nearest nominee’s residence, approximate retail value (“ARV”) $1,500; two (2) nights hotel accommodations (1 room), ARV $500; services at a New York City spa selected by Sponsor, ARV $500; total ARV $2,500; and a $2,500 donation made by Sponsor to the charity or service selected by winning nominee. Winning nominees must be able to travel on dates selected by Sponsor in October, 2008, or prizes will be forfeited. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, express or implied. Prizes or prize components may not be assigned, transferred, changed or redeemed for cash, except at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Sponsor disclaims all and any liability for the actual provision, quality or nature of any third party product or service accepted by the winners. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules, and winning nominees may be subject to other verification requirements.

MISCELLANEOUS: Nominator agrees to be bound by these Official Rules; and agrees that if potential winning nominee fails to provide proof of identity, refuses to provide required Release, nominee consent or cannot be satisfactorily confirmed by Sponsor, prize will be forfeited and the next highest scoring nomination will be the alternate winner. Nominator and nominee understand that Sponsor is not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this contest and acceptance, possession and use of prize, including any travel or activity related thereto. The winning nominators and nominees may be photographed for a future issue of Traditional Home magazine. Winning nominators and nominees will have no right to review any future articles regarding this or any other contest, and Sponsor shall have all artistic control over and the right to cut, edit, add to, subtract from, arrange, rearrange, and revise all materials submitted by nominee or nominators hereunder in any manner, without limitation, and entrants agree that Sponsor shall have the right to combine any of the materials supplied by them pursuant to the Contest, with such other material as Sponsor in its sole discretion shall determine, and further agrees that they shall not have any right of approval, claim to compensation or benefits claim, including without limitation claims based upon invasion of privacy, defamation, or right of publicity arising out of any use of names or biographical and/or corporate information. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for entries it is unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or any other reason, or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, illegible, stolen or lost e-mail or mail entries. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of the rules. Sponsor further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention or force majeure. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prizes to eligible mail or online entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry systems or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the contest is prohibited. In the event of a dispute regarding an online entry, online entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry. Except where prohibited by law: (i) nomination constitutes permission to use the winning nominator's nomination, name, hometown, voice, likeness, photograph, and any statements regarding this contest for editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes on behalf of Sponsor without compensation; (ii) nominators of a winning nomination agree to assign all rights, title and interest, including copyright rights, to winning nomination to Sponsor and agree to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility/Ownership, Release of Liability/Publicity and Copyright Assignment within ten (10) days of notification, or the nomination with the next highest scoring will become the alternate winner. Winning nominees will be required to complete and return a Publicity Release within ten (10) days of notification. By participating and winning a prize, the nominees and nominators named in a winning nomination release Sponsor and their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to the prize won and participation in the contest. Subject to all U.S. federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited. Taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winning nominees.

PRIVACY: By entering and providing the required entry information, you acknowledge that Sponsor may also send you information, samples or special offers it feels may be of interest to you about its publication or other complementary goods offered by Sponsor, or other companies it may carefully select. DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Except where prohibited, by participating contest entrants agree that: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant(s) and Sponsor and its agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of New York without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. Entrant agrees that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York and entrant hereby consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this contest, entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this contest but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
